Well, 2017 is just about in the books. I have spent a lot of time the last few days thinking about this year ending. I great the end of 2017 and the start of 2018 with mixed emotions.
Walking into 2017 I had no way to know what lay ahead of our family there was no way to know that we are about to face the most horrific event that we have been through and that it would bring about the most excruciating pain that we had ever felt.
Though we do not know or pretend to understand the “whys” of 2017 we do know that God knows and has a plan. God knew exactly what we were going to walk through this year and He knew exactly where we needed to be and the people who we would need in our lives to help us through. God has carried us through the darkest of days and through the pain. He continues to carry us and there is no doubt that He will continue to do so in the days, weeks, months and years to come.
2017 hasn’t been kind to many people that we know and love this year. There have been multiple losses, many have been totally unexpected. There has been illness and accidents. There have been people that have lost everything to floods and hurricanes. Pain seems to have been a theme for 2017.
God has been good through it all. He has been faithful. He has provided. He has shown us grace and mercy and given us peace. He truly does it get all the glory and honor for what He has done this year.
So, as we prepare to cross into 2018 in just a few hours it is my prayer that the year ahead will be kinder, but I also pray that we will be ready for whatever the year holds. It is my prayer that we will go into the year resting and relying on God, for it is truly only He that can sustain us and carry us no matter what the future holds.
I want to thank all our family, church family, friends, co-workers and everyone else who has been there for us this year. Your love, support, and prayers have helped carry us this year. We couldn’t have done this year without you. From the very beginning we have had an amazing support system. We love you all.
Happy New Year.
