When it comes to dads – I really do think I have the best one. I don’t know my biological father – adoption runs through my story since I was just a little girl. So, when I was just 3 years old, my mom met my dad- and the rest is history. He has loved me with an unconditional love. He has shown no favoritism with my siblings. He has been my biggest supporter and fan. I have the best dad.
Yet, when I think of my dad, there are some very specific words that I would use to describe him. The same is true for my heavenly Father.
When I think of my dad, I think of hard worker. My dad has never had a fancy job, but he has always made sure the bills were paid, and that our needs- and even some of our wants- were met. My dad has worked multiple jobs, worked crazy hours, and never really had a lot of hobbies so that he could be a good provider for my family.
When I think of my dad, I think of the word servant leader. My dad likes to do small things of service. He goes out of his way to help us. Whether it is checking on my freezer, running to the garbage dumb, or helping pull in our Christmas tree – my dad is always the first to help.
When I think of my dad, I think of the word gentle. He isn’t hard spoken or loud. He has always been a tender nurture.
My dad is a great dad – and an even better Papa! My dad is pretty amazing.
Then, there is my heavenly Father. He is Amazing. Beautiful. Consistent. Devoted. Faithful. Eternal. The list goes on. As wonderful as my earthly father is- he is not perfect. Yet, my heavenly Father is. He is perfect. He loves us perfect. His ways and thoughts are always perfect. God is the perfect Father.
This Father’s day, whether your dad is still with us or not, I encourage you to think about your dad. Get our free printable and use the alphabet to help you think of all the amazing qualities of your dad. Then – print another one, and do the same thing with your heavenly Father.
If you don’t have a dad- or if he wasn’t good (and sadly, that is the case), take time this Father’s Day to celebrate your Heavenly Father. He is always a good, good Father.
