2016 is going to be a year I commit. I have decided I am done being lukewarm – I am going to live my life in total surrender to the Lord. I want to see some big things happen this year- and I know the only way to do that is to commit to my prayer life.
I am a lazy prayer. I pray daily- but I don’t pray fervently. I don’t pray as though it matters.
I pray for lots of physical things. For sick friends and families, for certain things to happen. However, I don’t feel like I pray for the very things that God would have me to pray for. I dont always pray that way I know I should – for the very things that line up with scripture and that have an eternal impact on the Kingdom of God.
So, that is why I am focusing this first part of the year on Prayer – because there is nothing else I need to commit to more.
Book Club on Prayer
We are going to start out the year focusing on Prayer with the book Fervent by Priscilla Shirer. After previewing the movie War Room , I was also able to review some of the resources that were given with the book. Fervent stood out – and it was an amazing book. I wanted to read it again, and really digest it.
Fervent: Prayer Book Club Details
You will be able to find a post here each and every Monday, starting January 11th. We will be reading one chapter a week. I want to go slow. I feel like we need to get serious about prayer- but I have also been a part of book clubs that die out very quickly because there is so much reading required. I also don’t want this to take the place of your normal, daily quiet time. I think it is still important to read God’s Word, along with other great inspirational books. So, read this with your quiet time – not to replace it.
The blog post will be here each Monday. You will also find a few discussion questions throughout the week at my Facebook Community, Worshipful Homemaking. I will also be on Periscope on Monday evenings at 7:30 pm EST sharing thoughts about the book for the week!
I hope that you will join me as we dive into prayer this year!
The feature section of this link up will be back next week- so be sure to get your posts in this week! As usual, I will share all post via my social media!
