Worshipful Homemaking. Those two words may not seem to go together. To me, it is every day life.
I believe that Worship is more than what happens on Sunday morning. It isn’t a genre of music. Worship is living your life for the Lord. Every area of our life should be lived for the glory of God. That is the very reason I started this blog- to share life with you, and to point you to living a life of worship to the King.
Homemaking doesn’t mean a homemaker. I think we often get that confused too. I was a mom that worked outside the home for quite a few years- and homemaking was still something I did. It wasn’t a “title”, but it is part of my life as a woman.
So, I want these things to go together. I want my homemaking to be part of my worship.
Yet, I struggle there.
I am not the perfect homemaker.
I do love fresh carpet lines from the vacumm cleaner on my living room floor. But, those lines are not there as often as I would like.
I love fresh warm towels – but sometimes, they are just thrown in the basket.
I like clean sheets, a freshly mopped floor, and the smell of baked good. Sometimes, I am lucky to get dinner done and the floor swept.
I don’t do well at it.
But, there are other areas of homemaking I do well at.
You see, homemaking isn’t just about cleaning.
It is about making a home.
A home is a place where the people you love live. It is the place where your husband is- and so being a good wife, and all that entales – is part of my homemaking. It is a place where my kids snuggle me on the couch, and where we do character training – and even homeschooling. That is part of my homemaking.
Home is the place where my war room is- the place I do battle on my knees over those I love. Prayer makes my home- so it is part of my homemaking.
Home is where I have personal time with Jesus. Sitting in one of three spots, with a cup of hot coffee on mornings way before the sun is up – that is when my homemaking begins.
My homemaking begins with Jesus.
My homemaking is about Jesus.
So, when you think about homemaking, yes, you can think about cleaning. You can think about organization and cleaning charts, laundry days and meal planning. But, it goes so much deeper. It goes to the relationship with your husband, the relationship with your kids. It is where you are character training and adult raising little ones to the glory of God. It is where you meet with Jesus.
Homemaking – it is so much more then domesticated cleaning and cooking.
Hommaking is part of your worship.
If you are like me, and you struggle with this area of life- or any of this – then I have a community for you.
You see, I do better with accountability. I do better in community- where I lock shields with other women and press forward. Where I have cheerleaders cheering me on to finish my race strong.
I do better when I am encouraging others – that is one of the ways God has gifted me.
So, along with my friend Bridget from Becoming a Godly Wife, we want to be accountable. We want to cheer you on. We want to see all of us finish the race that God has set before us, for His glory.
So, we created Worshipful Homemaking!
