Christmas is a time of wonder. It is a perfect time to teach children about God’s love and His greatest gift – Jesus Christ.
Christmas provides so many things that we can use to teach little ones about God’s love. We can use the season and the time things around us to teach children about God’s love and gift. I was given the privilage to review A Very Merry Christmas Prayer – a book that shares with children that very concept.
Lights, stars, our homes, even the songs we sing. Everything that we are doing during the holidays should be teachable moments that we can use to point and disciple our children.
This is my sweet nephew looking up at my parents Christmas tree! Isn’t it adorable!
In this beautifully done board book, and through the simple prayer that a child can understand, Bonnie Rickner Jensen points to the real meaning of Christmas and how all our preparations should be about Jesus- not just pretty decour. It was convicting to me as I read this book with my little one. We had spent so much time over the last few days cutting down our tree, decorating and shopping for Christmas presents, I wondered if I was taking as much time preparing my heart for Christmas as much as I was preparing my home?
Love our family tradition of cutting down our Christmas tree! ?? #sckellychristmas15 #christmas2015 #behindtheblog #worshipfulliving A photo posted by Mandy Kelly (@worshipfulliving) on
I was so excited to find both Quieting Your Heart For the Holidays by Darelne from Time Warp Wife (with a FREE devotional on her site) and More Than Words by Stephanie Eidson of the Multi Taskin Mom. In Quieting Your Heart for the Holidays– Darlene has given us space to really journal and get to allow our hearts and minds to be quiet before the Lord. I enjoy coloring the small images in the book, and also writing down my memories and all I am thankful for. In More Than Words, Stephanie has given us a place to do a word study each day, to really think about the things that make up Christmas, and to see their significance to Christmas and to the Kingdom of God. As I am preparing my heart for Christmas, it allows me to focus on helping my children focus their hearts on Christmas too. Not just presents, trees, decorations and cookies- but to the real heart. The gift of Jesus. You can win a FREE copy of A Very Merry Christmas Prayer (book for kids): a Rafflecopter giveaway And now…. it is time for the LINK UP!
