My kids want to obey. I know that is truly their hearts. Yet, as parents, we have to teach them – using God’s Word- what that actually looks like.
If there is one thing me and my mommy friends talk about the most, it is getting our kids to obey. Not to just obey because they have to – but to obey because they want to, to obey because it is the right thing to do. I know that I wanted to teach my kids about obedience – and I wanted them to have a Biblical perspective. So, I began to search the internet for Bible Studies.
I found a lot of things- but a lot of it sounded like manipulation techniques- even from the Christian perspective.
I don’t want to manipulate my kids to obey me. I want to them to know what obedience looks like.
Then, I found “Because I Said So…”
and the light bulb went off and I thought I heard angels singing. I bought it and printed it right away!
I loved it for many reasons, but here are my top three:
- It came in an older and younger children’s edition – My children are a variety of ages- currently 14-7 – but we are also adopting. So, our age ranges are wide. Yet, we want to do devotions as a family. I loved that this had resources for both my older and younger children – and it wasn’t just written “across the plate at age 8-10”.
- Practical Bible Examples- I don’t want to just make up examples for my kids. I want them to see real life examples from the Bible, that lead to discussion about their lives and mine. I want them to see real life application in what we are studying.
- Biblically Solid – Like I shared earlier, I find that Kim’s writing is Biblical sound. It comes straight from scripture. She doesn’t sugar coat the Word, but she makes it easy enough for the younger readers to understand.
Using this Bible study has really hit the heart of my kiddos. God’s Word never returns void- and so I am sure it will have eternal impact on you all as well.
AND! She also has this amazing Bible Study I can’t wait to get on teaching kids contentment! It is also available in multiple ages!
