Ministry is hard. It is tiring. I will never try to make it sound any more glamorous then it is. If it is glamorous – then it might not really be ministry. I have cried more tears in my life over the people I have ministered to and with than almost anything else. Ministry is work – but it is what we have been set apart for.
God convicts the heart for salvation. Immediately after that call, He calls us back and ask us to serve Him. To set apart our lives for ministry.
Most people, when they think of ministry – think vocational. They think of Pastors and speakers who devout their whole lives to ministry. They don’t often think of themselves.
You have been called out. You have been set apart. Your purpose is to minister to others.
No, we are not all called to be Pastors. Not everyone is called to be a teacher of the Word. Yet, we are all called to share the gospel. If you are a wife, you are called to be a help meet to your husband. If you are a mama – your ministry enlarges to your children. Our live are intertwined into the lives of others- and we are called to minister there.
God ask us to set apart our time, resources and talents to minister for Him.
Not always for money – but always so He gets the glory.
We minister not for things on this earth- our rewards are eternal.
There are times when people don’t want our message. Or our ministry. Where we have to “shake the dust off of our sandles” and move on, knowing they are not rejecting us – but rejecting our message.
We have all been given the ministry of reconciliation – the ministry of telling others about the God who loves them, and helping them reconcile their relationship with Him.
God doesn’t hold us responsible for their actions. We can’t make others come to Christ. We are only responsible for sharing a clear gospel message with others.
