From Amway to working 80 hours a week. We’ve earned our degrees, knocked on doors, begged for raises, and dressed for success.
But did it work?
Perhaps for some it did…but I’d venture to guess that for most it didn’t.
Then we have the “Christian” version: “Send me $100 today, your seed of faith, and God will bless you 100 fold!”
We sealed up the bit we could scrape together, slapped a stamp on the envelope and waited….
…and the only seed that was planted was a seed of skepticism.
People have made millions selling success in a book, in podcasts, and seminars. They’ve marketed themselves as “life coaches” to lead you to prosperity and wealth.
All the while, God’s people have missed the #1 path to success. It’s a small gem hidden in the depths of God’s Word waiting to mined and treasured.
While we’ve exhausted ourselves climbing corporate ladders, putting in tons of overtime and cancelling our vacations, in fear that we’d be out at the very moment when success came knocking on our door, we’ve labored in vain.
Dear ones, success can’t be found in a book or on a ladder. Its not in a podcast or seminar. And the only thing a life coach can teach you is what you’ll read right here. So put your pocket book away and save that dollar for a rainy day.
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. – Joshua 1:8
It’s seems so simple. Yet there is a battle that must be waged on the path to success.
That battle is the battle between a temporal and eternal mindset.
You see, when we walk through the pearly gates, God wont care if you sat in a corner office and drove home to your beach side condo every night. He wont care if you had PhD, CEO or some other grouping of letters after your name.
He doesn’t define success that way.
Eternal prosperity can’t be measured with dollar signs – that’s what the begging televangelists have missed.
There is only one measuring rod for eternal prosperity and success: souls. Yours and mine.
And here is the formula you need to know for eternal prosperity and success: Meditation.
Not transcendental mediation. That requires you empty your mind.
Godly meditation is just the opposite, it requires you to fill your mind with God’s Word! And the Hebrew word for meditate here – hagah – literally means to mutter.
God is saying, “Do you want to be successful? Do you want to prosper? Fill your mouth and heart with my Word. Speak it, mutter it throughout the day. Let it so fill your heart and mind that it shapes your entire world view.”
This is the number one way you will be successful in 2015.
One thing I’ve learned that has helped me to memorize and meditate on God’s Word is writing the verses our on note cards that I can carry with me. I made a printable set for you today. I hope you’ll find them helpful as you purpose to fill your heart and mind with God’s Word this year!
