Ministry can be time-consuming. From preparing, to praying, to practicing, there are so many things that have to happen to make any kind of ministry go well. It is important that it does well, because we are putting the Lord’s name on it, so we want to be sure that it is bringing Him glory! So, as my blog has grown, I have started to get some reader’s questions, and the first one was “How does your husband feel about your blogging?” I laughed when I read the question. Not because it was funny, but because it has been the topic of SO many conversations between Scott and I! He loves that I have found a way to use my talents and passions for the Lord – but like anything else – it can be time-consuming! So, here are some thoughts….
Well, there you have it. You have to keep a balance? How do you do that? Well, it takes time to learn – and every family is different. For my family, it has been blogging hours, and scheduling. I schedule as many post as I can on Facebook and the blog out. I try to do about 2 weeks at a time – sometimes, though, it is less. I work my blog from 12:30-2:00 each day – and then I give myself about 30 minutes in the evening to check how the day was, and to get my Good Morning Girl groups set up for the next day. I also work very hard to keep a meal plan and cleaning schedule, and I have my children help with chores. This keeps me on page for what I need to be doing and getting done each day – and it is not overwhelming! This also helps the kids learn responsibility in the home. I reserve Friday as a day off – my hubby and I have date day that day, and always go out for lunch, and I run errands. So, it is all about finding a balance. I believe the Lord delights when we find a balance that fits us, and brings Him glory. I think it is in those moments that He blesses our time with Him, our families, and our ministries. We must keep our priorities in that order. Worship, Family, Job/Ministry. He must come first. Don’t plan to do something big for God if you don’t know where He is working. Spend time with Him- and then JOIN Him where He is already at work. This will bring Him glory – and let your life be lived as a sacrifice of Worship for Him!
